Short hair must be in pigtails or a ponytail. Very short hair must be pulled away from the face with a headband. Beginning to Advanced students must have their hair in a proper bun created with bobby pins and no fly-a ways. Do not use bun makers, holders, or clips. If you come to class without proper hair you will asked to observe class that day. If you need help making a proper bun, please see our tutorial on the website homepage.
Only small pierced earrings are safe to wear in class. Please leave all other jewelry at home including bracelets and watches!
No street clothes may be worn in class. Warm ups will be allowed for plies only. All loose articles of clothing and gear should be placed inside a ballet bag when not in use during class and left in the dressing room or dressing area downstairs. Please write your name on all your belongings.
Each class is assigned a specific uniform:
Tutus & Tiaras, Creative Movement, Pre-Ballet & Intro to Ballet – Long or short-sleeve pink leotard and pink tights
Beginning Ballet-A – Turquoise leotard and pink tights
Beginning Ballet-B – Mulberry leotard and pink tights
Beginning Ballet-C – Eggplant leotard and pink tights
Intermediate Ballet-A – Forest leotard and pink tights
Intermediate Ballet-B – Royal Blue leotard and pink tights
Intermediate Ballet-C – Garnet leotard and pink tights
Advanced Ballet – Black leotard and pink tights
Pre-Professional – Any solid color leotard and pink tights. When taking class with Advanced class in the evening wear black advanced uniform.
Contemporary & Modern – Any color footless tights or leggings, any solid color leotard (no embellishments or words). Hair may be pulled back in a pony tail – buns are not required.
Boys & Men – Black tights or black biker shorts with a white fitted dance shirt. Nothing loose or baggy. Socks are optional.
Teen-Adult Ballet – Black or pink tights, solid color leotard with no text or embellishments.
Students taking Saturday classes may wear any color leotard.
Girls – pink leather or canvas technique shoes.
Guys – black leather or canvas technique shoes.
Tiny Tappers – black tap shoes

Creative Movement, Pre-Ballet, Intro to Ballet, Teen-Adult Ballet, Men and non-ballet classes will find uniform items at DanceBiz in Lexington. Walmart also carries children’s leotards and tights, but do not buy their shoes! Marshall’s carries some men’s items. There must be no embellishments or words on leotards or shirts. Shoes can be purchased from DanceBiz in Lexington. Please mention WCB to receive a 10% discount.
THE BALLET EXCHANGE:
Gently used ballet attire is passed along (not for sale) to share with other WCB families. Leotards, tights, and shoes may be placed in the Ballet Exchange drawers and shelves in the office. All items donated must be clean and in usable condition with no stains or rips.
